about

This is a real garage band track that recalls images and the illicit magic of a small roadhouse in the middle of nowhere where the Smiling Castle sometimes played. The place was called the Silver Seagull in Grays Harbor -- Ocosta to be exact. It was packed with kids every Saturday night in the summertime and was actually the Ocosta Grange Hall (very cool bldg) but renamed the Silver Seagull by local promoters. Lots of big NW bands played there and kids got away with all kinds of stuff - until they got caught, arrested, whatever. Sometimes. It didn't last all that long as a rock dance hall, but the memories live on. Don't know if it's still standing or not, but you can see pictures of the place at: pnwbands.com/silverseagull.html

lyrics

Silver Seagull
(words & music by Rob Bender)

Little cutie’s pressin’ gainst my skin
Dirty dancin’ in her high heel shims
All legs and a perfumed hair
When she hikes her skirt you know she, gets me there

At the Silver Seagull
The scene is barely legal
At the Silver Seagull
Gimme just a touch of evil

It’s there, I’ll go, tomorrow
The rain, will drown, my sorrow

Wild boys are fighting’ back in the alley
Out on the road it’s a carburetor rally
Sherry’s feelin’ my backseat leather
Rolled and pleated looks like primeval weather

At the Silver Seagull
The scene is barely legal
At the Silver Seagull
Gimme just a touch of evil

It’s there, I’ll go, tomorrow
The rain, will drown, my sorrow
The beat, infects, libido
No taboos, fever, au-go-go

At the Silver Seagull
The scene is barely legal
At the Silver Seagull
Gimme just a touch of evil
