about
First song I wrote that was recorded by my old band, the Smiling Castle. I had just left the group and drummer Toby Millican plays on the recording along with Steve Schurr, Greg Moore, Brad Beck and Forest Brown. I had always envisioned another free form part to the song so I've added that into the original version. This "redux" version comes pretty close to the original concept I had in mind.
The photo is of the original group: me, Steve Schurr, Ken Chikasuye, Greg Moore, and Forest Brown.
lyrics
AGE OF…
When you find your world is not all right
And you start to question your will to fight
Then you take a good look at yourself
And you find you’re really nobody else
Then it’s time to sit
Down on a cloud and
Dream what you like to dream
The time has come for you to
Choose a path to walk on
Too bad that things aren’t what they seem
Cause you’ve reached the age of decision
And you do not know where to go
To love, to work, to educate
Or to kill for two or four
It doesn’t really matter what you choose
Because in all but one they’ll run you till you ain’t got no shoes
Then you meet up with a smiling young man
You’re ok, you’ve found your new land
Cause you’ve reached the age of decision
And you do not know where to go
To love, to work, to educate
Or to kill for two or four
